FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

For the first time since five years, the winter season 2018/2019 was not impacted by previous or new injuries. Therefore, I concentrated on improving my basic speed, trying to get back to the one of 2015, before my ligament at the left ankle broke.

My calendar for 2019 resulted to be full of several competitions below 45 kilometer, all approached with the best possible speed. Everything went well until end of August, with very good physical and mental strength. Even the DNF at the Schinder Trail (just 8 km before the finish line) was not a big issue since, in all these years, I learned to know my body and it was the right moment to stop.

However, the last four months were completely different. First the injury at Trail du Haut Koenigsburg (Trail Running in France, Haut Koenigsburg | EmigranTrailer), when I was close to enter the top 10. This injury did not allow me to train properly in the following months, reducing drastically the trainings. Secondly, the huge amount of work and task forces at job, which forced me to stay in the office between 9 and 11 hours per day in the last three months. Third, private/personal tough moments, which required a lot of strength to go beyond and keep looking forward. Consequently, I reviewed all the plans for the competitions of the last part of the season, trying to get the best of them.

In general, it was again another year of good and positive vibes and feelings.

BEST MEMORIES (in order of date)

  • 1. The victory with Andrea & Laura in the mixed team at the Three For Team with the record of the race;
  • 2. The finish line at MIUT (Home (miutmadeira.com)) and the week with new and old trail-running friends;
  • 3. The third place at Donnersberg Trail and the first trail moments shared with Ann-Cathrin;

WORST MEMORIES

  • 1. The last 22 km at the Marathon of Valencia, completely empty of mental and physical energies (December).
