With the learnings of 2017, I approached this year looking for a proper recovery from the injuries, reducing my trips to and from Italy, and spending more time again in hiking and alpinism. Moreover I returned to my first “love” (the mountain-bike) and a big portion of my trainings between April and May was dedicated to it.
The goal of the season was the CCC at the UTMB (UTMB® (utmbmontblanc.com)) and I approached it with the right preparation and motivation (UTMB-CCC 2018: ten weeks training | EmigranTrailer).
The finish line at Chamonix after 17h43’49” was amazing. The last months of the season were dedicated to get in contact with the trail running community here in Germany and to complete an improvised first official road marathon (Reggio Emilia in 3h15’53”). Overall a year with only positive vibes and feelings.
- 1. The CCC at the UTMB week and the hugs with friends at the finish line;
- 2. The SkyRace in Allgäu at beginning of August: a wonderful and very tough trail;
- 3. The road marathon in Reggio Emilia;
