Evening hiking up to Altkönig
HIKING IS THE FIRST STEP FOR TRAIL-RUNNING IN THE ALPS!
This is a phrase that I often repeat to those here in Hesse who asks me for some advice for trail running races in the Alps. This is in addition to other tips: Trail Running Tips | EmigranTrailer.
Therefore, let’s start with the basics, like using the sticks while going uphill & downhill.
This appointment is not a lesson: it is a meeting between people in which those with more experience can give useful advice. So anyone can come, whether little or very experienced!
The target for this evening is to do one uphill to Altköning (500 m+) and one downhill from Altkönig (500 m-).
The uphill will follow the so-called Altkönig-Skyrace: ca. 3,4 km with 500 m+.
I will stay with the slowest ones and, if you know it, you can do more than once.
The downhill will be decided once we all are on the top. There are several options and it will depends on the weather, the time and the physical conditions after the uphill.
- Trail Running shoes
- Trail Running clothing
- Water (at least 0,5 L)
- Some food
- Waldschwimmbad Kronberg (please organize yourself to be there)
- Starting time: 18:30 (please arrive 5-10 minutes before)
- Ending Time: 20:30 (but it depends on how fast we go uphill and downhill)
If you need more information, please let me know.
